This document and the Request for A Special Meeting has been Emailed to all MNRC Club delegates of record by Secretary Dede Patterson.

A request for a Special Meeting of the Master National Retriever Club has been received.. The request was submitted 7/1/2023. The purpose of the Special meeting is to Submit the Qualifier Proposal and requisite bylaws changes to the Master National Member Clubs for a vote.

As per the Bylaws Article VIII Section 2. b. Upon receipt of requests in writing from not less than (5) member clubs, in which case the secretary of this club shall call and duly give notice of a special meeting of this club, stating the purpose, time and place thereof.

The date of the special meeting will be August 11, 2023. No in person meeting will be held. The proposal will be sent to the member clubs. All votes from member clubs will be due by August 10, 2023 by 11:59 pm CST.. All votes will be electronic. The results of the Member Club Votes will be recorded and the results distributed to the Member Clubs on August 11, 2023.

Please Find the attached request and proposal by the following member Clubs: Brazosport Retriever Club, Red Wood Empire Retriever Club, Carolina Retriever Association,Northeast Texas Retriever Association, Shreveport Bossier Retriever Club, Umpqua Valley Retriever Club, Labrador Retriever Club of Southern California, Marin Retriever Club, Missouri Valley Hunt Club, Golden Retriever Club of America and Nebraska Dog and Hunt Club..

You keep making everything non personal, and you keep making the time frames for information and meetings shorter and shorter !
So many issues need to be discussed and voted on by the membership (not the Board) and so many options need to be discussed ! The Master National itself caused most of not all the issues going on and ramming information and ideas down the members is no appropriate. It took more than 25 years to create these problems and it should take more than 3 years to fix them !!!
What is best for the dogs ? What is best for the dog owners, stop making it about money and restart making it about DOGS ! Put much more effort into fixing things long term than trying a short term fix ! Too many Pro Trained dogs, too much false emphasis on what a MN pass means to a Pro Kennel and the breeding of MN pass dogs, a dog that passed 3 double header weekend test in the right test environment is so much better than a dog that passed 6 single series with a 5 minute time limit, what have you all done?
You get all the equipment for free then sell it for profit,more than retail after the event ends, you raised the entry fees but no pay off for the entrants ! You need more flights, bigger properties and you need to give the judges more input into the series they judge ! No more participation ribbons, you do the work just like the weekends or you don’t pass !
Work harder with solutions not ideas, it’s not fair to every dog and it’s owner that spends 5k to enter travel to and run the event no matter if the owner runs the dog or a Pro does ! Make it Fair, Make it Special, Make it Truly mean something Again !

In light of the current atmosphere surrounding the AKC retriever hunt test and the Master National in particular, I am adding my two cents worth.
1. The AKC Retriever Hunt Test program and the Master National were not created for professional dog trainers to make money. If the pros can make a living from them, fine, but that is not their purpose.
2. If a handler (Pro or Am) does not like the judges for a particular hunt test, they do not have to enter the event. If a handler does not like a position a club is taking on an issue, then they don’t have to support that club. However, it is unethical to contact a club with an ultimatum, “change your _____ or I won’t enter your hunt tests.” This is un-sportsman like conduct, and I sincerely hope the AKC sanctions folks that target clubs with these unethical actions.

Are we not trying to reduce the number of dogs running? Are we not also a club run by the clubs? It makes no sense to me or my club should vote to give plate holders an excemption from 5 tests. This represent the lost revenues of $217,000+ to clubs, which in more remote areas like ours depend on that business to keep the events afloat. Also, if we make it easier for plate holders than new to the event dogs, we perpetuating larger event numbers. I get it that everyone wants to get to the hall of fame, but some of us amateurs just want to go to a national.
