The Master National is now the largest retriever event in the world
In 1991, the first Master National event was held in Glasgow, Delaware September 16-22. There were 74 handlers, with 67 amateurs and 7 pros running 94 dogs. Today we have 359 handlers running 1,220 dogs at the 2023 event. And That’s over a 1,000 Percent increase!
From 1991 until 1996 the Master National was 1 flight with a 3 judge panel. 1997 was the first time there were 2 flights, an A and B split.
