My only comment after watching this is you guys kept mentioning about finalizing everything? Specifically the qualifying timeframe of this ( current proposal is the same as now Aug 1- July 31) but there was mention that it could change ??? I guess that is my only concern about this as this is what is the most important to me since I am in a northern state, I am an amateur with 1 dog, I dont go south for the winter and our season really starts in May which means we dont get alot or any water training sometimes until late April and I don’t have every weekend in May , June and July available to be attending weekend tests. If my qualifying period for the next year was Jan 1 – Dec 31 that would be better . Oct 1 – Sept 30 also works. So my question then is WHEN OFFICALLY are all these CHANGES being set in stone?

Thanks so much for putting this video together. My concern is that the Qualifying period for the Qualifying Test occur in the same time frame. I would like to see that the dogs that may qualify in May, June AND July get a chance at a qualifying test.

If the goal is still to reduce the entry in the MN to more manageable numbers proposals such as decreasing requirements for dogs that have a MN pass and NO requirements for a dog with a MNH title seem counterproductive.

The video presentation leaves a number of unanswered questions.

1. Will the MN be at least 6 series? Chuck skirted that issue by saying…at least 3 series, more blinds, more flyers, and passing would count toward 1, (one) pass? What does that mean? The qualifier should be a separate and stand alone test. The Master National should be 6 (six) series, and the free pass/passes would be irrelevant as explained below.

2. One of the objectives of this undertaking was to work to reduce the number of dogs. As previously noted, giving a free pass to MNH dogs will simply and artificially inflate the number of dogs at the event. Every dog should be required to run the qualifier. Simply do the math on MNH dogs that would increase the numbers annually.

3. For a dog to run the qualifier it must be a MH…understood. Will a dog that gets 6 passes and titles within the same time frame be eligible to run the qualifier, or will it need to get an additional 5 (five), passes?

Last but not least can someone explain to me what is the reason to obtain 5 master passes to go to the qualifier? This serves no practical purpose other than a money grab. Any dog that has a Master Hunter Title should automatically be eligible to run the qualifier. All those free weekends can be spent training our dogs for the qualifier.

PROS: everyone saves money: weekend tests are not jammed up: non-titled dogs can get into tests… just like the amateur set aside. No free passes would be necessary for passing the qualifier of the MN.
This is a very simple and practical solution to the weekend hunt test problem.

CONS: I can’t think of any.
