The Tallahassee Hunting Retriever Club honored their former President and good friend, Ed Wojciechowski 1941-2026, by dedicating their Winter Master Hunt Test to him February 17-19, 2026.
At the test opening, THRC President Sam Ferguson delivered a touching memorial to his friend. “Ed began his journey with his dogs over 40 years ago in Wisconsin. He participated in both AKC and HRC tests, Ed also was a hunt test judge. Among Ed’s accomplishments was achieving the Hunting Retriever Champion with his Standard Poodle, Kodi. Ed was successful in placing AKC titles with his much- loved labs: Duffy, Heather, Taz, Gunner and Jake. For Ed, it was ALL about the dogs. Ed enjoyed getting the best that each dog had to offer by teaching, teaching and more teaching!
Ed’s commitment to Retrievers wasn’t limited to just his own dogs. Ed was a teacher, a mentor, and a friend to many who were new to the sport. He opened his 40-acre property, Marsh and Glen Kennels, to those who wanted to train and many times were limited in their option for doing so. Ed encouraged new handlers as well as shared his techniques based on his experiences and those he learned from others. Ed was the first person to call a friend if their dog did well at a test and he was the first to call to say let’s get to work for the next one. Ed was always laughing and always encouraging. He was empathetic and well as sympathetic while looking to move forward and continue to make progress. His wonderful sense of humor and contagious sense of “things will get better” took many new handlers (and some old) through tough patches of training and working through new scenarios.
Following an unfortunate and traumatic accident while driving an ATV, Ed never really recovered from the injuries and passed away from those health complications. Through it all, he continued to open his and lovely wife Lynn’s property for others to utilize for training. Ed continued to mentor often and join trainers to help in any way he could. Ed truly enjoyed watching the dogs do what they love- retrieving.
We are all very thankful for the service Ed gave to our club and to both Ed and Lynn for their friendship over the years. To all members of Ed and Lynn’s family, we send our deepest condolences.”
Guns up old friend,
