Bronze Labrador Sculptue Unveiled in Thomasville

A bronze Labrador sculpture was recently unveiled at the 29th Wildlife Arts Festival in downtown Thomasville, GA to a crowd of over 150 supporters.

The bronze sculpture honored Master National icon Sallie Perkins Sullivan, for the impact she has made through her involvement in various wildlife initiatives and projects. The sculpture honors patrons who have contributed to conservation and preserving wildlife culture in the Red Hills Region.

The Labrador bronze, sculpted by Walt Matia, was chosen for Sallie Sullivan due to her passion for retrievers. For 28 years, Sallie purchased artwork from the Wildlife Arts Festival, showcasing dogs of all kinds and mediums. Her bronze is permanently located at 102 W. Jackson St.

According to Walt Matia, “The main benefit is knowing that Thomasville Center for the Arts supports the entire national arts community, which helps them attract accomplished artists from across the country to the Wildlife Arts Festival and other Center events. It’s all interconnected.”
