Master National Retriever Club
The Master National Retriever Club is fortunate to have over 180 member clubs across the United States. Over the past 3 years we have seen an uptick in the submissions of applications for MNRC memberships. Our by-laws are specific regarding membership into MNRC. They are as follows:
ARTICLE II, Membership:
SECTION 2. Eligibility to Join Any club which is an AKC member authorized to hold AKC licensed hunting tests may be eligible to join the MNRC through the application process.
SECTION 3. Application to Join Any club giving an AKC member or licensed hunting test, desiring to become a member of this Club, shall submit to the Secretary of this Club a written application to be a member of this Club. Upon election by a majority vote of the members of the Board of Directors, and upon receipt of the annual dues fee, it shall forthwith become a member of this Club, and may thereupon designate in writing one of its members to become a delegate, and as such delegate, to represent it as a member of this Club.
In 2023, the AKC streamlined their Accreditation and Licensing of Clubs process. [Two Path Event Process for New Club Accreditation to License Status (July 2023 AKC Board Meeting)]. The ‘two event paths’ for clubs to become Accredited and Licensed are- the Standard Event Path and the Mentored Event Path. (Refer to How to Form A Club under the Clubs and Delegates menu on the AKC.org webpage for specifics).
Since MNRC has not routinely been notified when a club has become Accredited and Licensed for holding ‘licensed’ hunt tests, we are amending our MNRC Membership application to ensure compliance with our by-laws.
Effective August 1, 2026, any club seeking membership into MNRC must complete the membership application and attach a copy of the Licensed Hunt Test Club approval letter from AKC. Without a copy of that letter attached, the application is incomplete and will not be considered.
